With the majority of Haiti's population living on less than $3 a day, it is not surprising that 25%-40% of Haiti’s children under five suffer chronic malnutrition and 59% of them are anemic. Moreover, 50% of Haiti’s children do not attend school and the literacy rate is only 52% (World Bank). This is all because parents are unable to provide the very basic needs: food, medicine, shelter, school tuition and supplies to their children as we are all accustomed to here in the United States. Governmental funding for Education is non-existent and there is no hope in sight.
Through its Education Initiative, the Foundation has committed to do its small part to improve these statistics by ensuring that some of the children in St. Louis du Sud, located in the Southern part of the country, attend school and have a chance at a better life. The Foundation will provide full tuition scholarships to 25 to 30 children starting from Kindergarten through High School. The Foundation will also provide additional support (school supplies, clothing, meals, etc.) to ensure that these children are successful.
At $150 per year or just 55 cents per day, would you please sponsor one of these children?
